Munna Wiltipoll Sale 2010
On Saturday 20th February 2010 Jill & Harry Powell and Anna & Tom Dunlop held their annual on property Wiltipoll Sale at  Munna, Coolah
It is amazing what a difference a month can make!. At New year the sheep were looking very ordinary as 2009 was an extremely dry year, but after the wonderful rain at Christmas nad New Year and the subsequent feed that rapidly followed the rain, the sheep we presented for the sale were looking wonderful.
We are very pleased to see both repeat and new buyers and after a pretty tough day for our Auctioneer, Biil Tatt, we were extremely pleased to sell all the ewes for a top of $350 and an av of $305 and 19 rams for a top of $1350 and an av of $650 giving us a 98% clearance.
The top price of $350 for ewes was paid by Greg Spinks of Mudgee who purchased 3 ewes and also by Tim Martin of Cameron's Creek who purchased 40 ewes for an av of $305.
The top priced ram was purchased by Maree and Lance Hodges form Narrabri. Lance and his father Ted have been purchasing Wiltipoll sheep for 14 years and we value their continued support.
It is very good to see the majority of the rams go to commercial breeders, as this is where our future lies.
Neil and Ann Kennedy sold 20 ewe weaners for a top of $300 and an av of $231 which was a great result given that the sheep had been through drought form birth to Christmas and then two floods since Christmas.
We look forward to a better season this year for everyone and we hope to be presenting more sheep at our next sale at Munna on 19th February 2011.
On Monday 15th February 2010 we sold 6 and 7 month old Wiltipoll/merino cross lambs in Dubbo for $113 which was a very pleasing result after the season they had been through. The wool shedding breeds have their own designated area in the Dubbo sale yards and have become very acceptable to the buyers.

A total clearance of stud ewes topping $650 and selling to new and repeat clients was the highlight of the annual Munna Wiltipoll Sale at Coolah on 21st February 2009.  The sale was held on behalf of Jill and Harry Powell of "Munna" Coolah and Neil and Ann Kennedy of "Yuma" Coonamble.  All sheep presented were total shedders and were in great condition.  It was good to see both familiar faces and some newcomers at the sale and we hope that all purchasers will be happy with their sheep.
Munna's 57 top grade spring drop '05 ewes sold to a top of $650 and averaged $418 for a total clearance with return buyers Maxine and James Blackburn, "Tunbridge Homestead" Merriwa, buying 6 ewes to average $588.  Yuma's offering of 22 spring '08 weaner ewes also cleared averaging $243.
The rams were a bit tougher to sell with 8 of the 20 offered selling to $1100 with an average of $938.  Peter Seccombe of Mudgee purchased the top selling ram for $1100 and it was pleasing to see half of the rams going to new buyers.  26 stud ewes were purchased by a new buyer Tim Martin "Yarrawonga" Kentucky for average of $408 and a ram for $800.
The proceeds of the first pen of ewes, $1200 were donated equally between the Victorian Bushfire Appeal and the Queensland Flood Appeal.
We look forward to seeing you all at our 2010 sale to be held on Saturday, 20th February 2010.
